A pochi passi da Subiaco, lungo la strada panoramica che si inoltra nel parco dei Monti Simbruini, si raggiunge l'Abbazia di Santa Scolastica, fondata da San Benedetto nel VI secolo. All'interno si ammirano i tre chiostri (cosmatesco, gotico, rinascimentale), il campanile romanico, la chiesa neoclassica e la biblioteca in cui si conservano gli incunaboli sublacensi. A poca distanza sorge il "Sacro Speco", edificato sul luogo in cui San Benedetto si ritirò eremita per tre anni. Vivo interesse suscitano i numerosi affreschi medievali. |
Not far from Subiaco, on the panoramic road which leads to the "Regional park of Monti Simbruini", we reach the abbey of St. Scolastica, founded by St. Benedict in the VI century. In the abbey we can admire three cloisters (Cosmatan, gothic and renaissance), the romanesque bell tower, a neo-classical church and the library in which are preserved the famous "incunaboli sublacensi". Not far away there is the "Sacro Speco", built on the place where St. Benedict withdrew to live as a hermit for 3 years. The numerous medieval frescoes are of particular interest.
Ein paar Schritte von Subiaco entfernt, erreichen wir durch die Panoramastraße, die durch der Park "Monti Simbruini" führt, das Kloster Hl. Scholastika, von Hl. Benedikt im VI Jh gegründet. Im Inneren die drei Kreuzgänge (Kosmaten, Gotik und Renaissance) der romanische Glockentum, die neuklassizistiche Kirche und die Bibliothek, wo die bekannten "sublacensi" Inkunabeln aufbewahrt werden. Nicht weit davon entiernt erhebt sich das "Sacro Speco", errichtet in dem Ort, wo der Hl. Benedikt als Einsiedler für drei Jahre lebte. Großes Interesse erwecken die zahlreichen Fresken des Mittelalters.
